Walt Whitman once said, “All beef is grass”, I say “All fish is plankton.” Taking care of pastures takes care of live-stock on land and…
A BRIEF PRIMER
We shifted from merely studying to doing in 1999 when with a consortia of Canadian energy majors we modeled Mother Natures photosynthetic methods, her trees and seas, to mitigate industries burgeoning carbon footprint.
It is not only possible to repurpose CO2 into living plants, it is imperative that we do so!
Ocean Pastures are in a terrible state of decline almost everywhere.
At least 40% (some sources cite 50%) of ocean plant life has disappeared due to our neglect in the past few decades.
Just like pastures on land where there is little grass few livestock can survive, within ocean pastures where there is little plankton (the oceans grass) few fish can survive.
We're not alone in this work, decades of academic research with a quarter of a billion dollars in public funds has shown that replenishing and restoring those ocean pastures is possible.
The world has a growing need for food and fish, together this is called food security.
In 2002 we undertook our first open ocean research which made the Journal Nature in 2003.
It's now many years later and we have completed the largest sustainable ecosystem replenishment and restoration project in history in the Gulf of Alaska. The fish came back the very next year as seen in the largest catch of salmon in all of history.
We've proven it is possible to be caring stewards of the vital ocean pastures and in doing so to bring back the fish to historic health and abundance and to do so immediately.
Someone has to be the pioneer and lead the way.
That someone is us!
IT JUST WORKS!
What We’ve Done
THE FISH ARE BACK
Historic runs of salmon of all species are being recorded and seen up and down the west coast of North America.
Nothing can explain the miracle save the restoration of a critical ocean salmon pasture, our pasture, in the summer of 2012.
You can read on these pages about how we intend to bring the fish back around the world.
Our intention and rapidly attainable goal is to bring an extra billion fish into the nets and onto the plates of people needing and wanting healthy, nutritious, and affordable fish.
Think our dream isn't possible?
The US Government has just purchased (spring 2014) 60 million servings of the healthy pasture fed salmon we sent home to Alaska last fall.
Those 60 million servings of fish are right now being provided to American children enrolled in USDA food aid programs!
The world my not be our oyster, but it will surely eat our fish.
